Alameda, CA | Student Assaulted

On Friday, February 8, 2019, the Alameda Unified School District utilized the Share911 Platform in response to a report of a student being assaulted at Island High School. The suspect made his way into a restroom around 8:45 a.m. and used a knife to assault the teen.

Upon being informed of the incident, the Principal of the school utilized Share911 to place his school in lockdown, with a message for employees to report if they saw any suspicious persons on campus. The lockdown alert simultaneously notified the Alameda Police and the district administrators. As a precaution, eight additional schools in the surrounding area were placed on lockdown or shelter in place while police searched for the suspect.

"This was a perfect demonstration of the core benefits of the Share911 platform," says Erik Endress, CEO of OnScene Technologies. "You had a Principal who was able to quickly alert everyone to take action to get safe and respond back if they saw the danger, you had law enforcement notified and responding faster and you had district officials using Share911 to place other buildings into lockdown or shelter in place electronically. As the incident unfolded, district administrators and incident commanders were able to monitor conditions at 9 schools from a single source of truth."

Hayward, CA | Armed Robbery

On February 7th, 2019 just before 12 p.m. PST, the Share911 platform was utilized by the Hayward Unified School District and their police department in Hayward, CA to place one elementary school on lockdown and three others on shelter-in-place as police search for an armed robbery suspect in the area in the 26000 block of Gading Road.

As the situation progressed, additional schools were asked to shelter-in-place out of precaution. During the near two hour-long incident, 158 employees were in constant lateral communication with the police, school district officials and their co-workers, providing real-time, collective intelligence on the safety of staff and students to incident commanders.

“This multiple school incident is a perfect example of the benefit of our platform, enabling law enforcement to alert employees and administrators to take action, provide collective intelligence for everyone involved and account for everyone in real-time from a single source of truth” says Erik Endress, CEO of OnScene Technologies. “Without our platform, police would be calling individual schools, time would be wasted and nobody would have visibility to what was happening in these buildings during the incident.”

Paramus, NJ | MRI Explosion Causes Evacuation

A sudden explosion rocked an animal hospital in New Jersey on Friday, March 6, 2015.

An MRI machine exploded inside the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, prompting the evacuation of 60 animals and over 100 employees.

Three subcontractors were making repairs on the MRI machine at the time. The explosion caused a ceiling in a small room to collapse but none of the animals were hurt because they were in a different part of the building. Three outside contractors repairing the machine were hurt. One man is in critical condition.

As the incident unfolded, hospital administrators utilized Share911’s lateral communication system to keep employees informed of what was happening and what to expect.

“Most businesses and schools don’t think about how they will communicate during and after an emergency” says Erik Endress, CEO of OnScene Technologies. “In this case, they lost all of their other systems and Share911 was all they had, so we are glad we could help them.”
