Alameda, CA | Student Assaulted

On Friday, February 8, 2019, the Alameda Unified School District utilized the Share911 Platform in response to a report of a student being assaulted at Island High School. The suspect made his way into a restroom around 8:45 a.m. and used a knife to assault the teen.

Upon being informed of the incident, the Principal of the school utilized Share911 to place his school in lockdown, with a message for employees to report if they saw any suspicious persons on campus. The lockdown alert simultaneously notified the Alameda Police and the district administrators. As a precaution, eight additional schools in the surrounding area were placed on lockdown or shelter in place while police searched for the suspect.

"This was a perfect demonstration of the core benefits of the Share911 platform," says Erik Endress, CEO of OnScene Technologies. "You had a Principal who was able to quickly alert everyone to take action to get safe and respond back if they saw the danger, you had law enforcement notified and responding faster and you had district officials using Share911 to place other buildings into lockdown or shelter in place electronically. As the incident unfolded, district administrators and incident commanders were able to monitor conditions at 9 schools from a single source of truth."
