COMPLIANCE & STANDARDS

THE RULES ARE CATCHING UP TO THE PROBLEM.

Across the US and UK, laws and standards increasingly require what we’ve always believed: that the people in a building deserve to know, and act, the moment an emergency begins. Here’s what applies to you — and how Share911 and Share999 help you meet it.

THE HONEST VERSION

These are your obligations, not ours to fulfill for you. Share911 and Share999 support specific, time-critical parts of each — getting help summoned, getting everyone told, keeping a record. They don’t write your plans, deliver your training, or make you “compliant” on their own, and none of these laws or bodies endorses any product. Always confirm the details with the official source and your own advisors.

United States — with Share911

IN FORCE · VARIES BY STATE

Alyssa’s Law

For K–12 schools and districts.

Requires silent panic alerts that connect directly to law enforcement, with real-time location. Now law in a growing number of states.

FEDERAL · IN FORCE

Clery Act

For colleges and universities.

Requires timely warnings and emergency notifications — campuses must alert the community without delay once a significant emergency is confirmed.

IN FORCE · ENFORCED

California SB 553

For nearly all California employers — offices, retail, warehouses, hospitality, manufacturing.

Requires a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan with procedures to report, respond/alert, and log incidents. Penalties up to $158,727 for willful violations.

IN FORCE · BUTTON JAN 2027

NY Retail Worker Safety Act

For New York retail employers (10+ employees; the silent-response-button rule applies at 500+).

A workplace violence prevention policy, training, and notice now — and a silent response button for large retailers from Jan 1, 2027. The closest fit to what Share911 does.

United Kingdom — with Share999

ENACTED · IN FORCE ~2027

Martyn’s Law

For public premises and events above a size threshold — venues, stadiums, places of worship, larger schools.

Requires being prepared to protect people in an attack, with procedures to reduce harm and communicate fast. The duty is coming; preparation is now.

RECOGNISED UK STANDARD

JESIP

For control rooms, Local Resilience Forums, resilience partners, and the venues that interface with them.

Not a law — the recognised UK doctrine for how emergency services share one picture and work as one at an incident. Share999 helps deliver the shared situational awareness it’s built around.

Proving it happened — after-action reports

Most mandates ask two things: be ready, and be able to show it. Share911 and Share999 automatically produce an after-action report for everything that happens on the platform — every real emergency, and every drill — so the evidence exists the moment you need it.

REAL EVENTS & DRILLS

After-action reports

A forensic, chronological record.

Every report reconstructs exactly what happened: who did what and when, what was communicated, who saw what and where, and who reported they were in danger, trapped, injured — or safe. One authoritative timeline, captured automatically.

TRAINING EVIDENCE

Drill compliance

Proof you ran the drill — and who took part.

Run a drill and its after-action report becomes your documentation: a record of who participated in the training event and who didn’t. When a mandate requires regular drills, that’s what shows you met it. We call it drill compliance.

And in the minutes after a critical event — when an incident commander or your leadership needs the truth fast — the after-action report is a single, authoritative source: what happened, in order, without relying on anyone’s memory.
